There Is No Sin In Him

Status

As long as we lived that old way of life, doing whatever we felt we could get away with, sin was calling most of the shots as the old law code hemmed us in. And this made us all the more rebellious.

Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another–showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. All who indulge in a sinful life are dangerously lawless, for sin is a major disruption of God’s order.Surely you know that Christ showed up in order to get rid of sin. There is no sin in Him, and sin is not part of His program.

Romans 7:5 ~ 2 Timothy 3:16 ~ John 3:4-5

Life Application Notes:
There is a difference between committing a sin and continuing to sin. Even the most faithful believers sometimes commit sins, but they do not cherish a particular sin or continually choose to commit it. A believer who commits a sin can repent, confess it, and find forgiveness. A person who continues to sin, by contrast, is not sorry for what he or she is doing. Thus, this person never confesses and never receives forgiveness. Such a person is in opposition to God, no matter what religious claims he or she makes.

Jesus came to the world with a purpose ‘to save sinners’  Matthew 1:21 “She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus–‘God saves’–because he will save his people from their sins.” He came to earth because we cannot save ourselves. He came to be our Savior from the power and penalty of sin. He came to teach us how to recover with God’s help and move forward to living lives worthy of His calling.

New Life

Consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Because you belong to him, the powerof the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Power In His Strength

God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. True wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are His. Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock. He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me.

#15-I Believe in You

Status

Matthew 9:28 When Jesus went indoors, the blind men came to him. He asked them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied.

Seeing isn’t always believing. Often when we start attending recovery groups we see what is going on but we don’t believe it. There is a saying The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” For many of us until we start experiencing changes in our lives as a result of recovery we just don’t believe it.

This scripture tells of some of the miraculous healing powers of Jesus. In the featured verse, Jesus asked two blind men “do you believe I can do this?”

Do you believe Jesus can heal people?

A question we all need to answer as we progress in the process of recovery.

  • Do you believe Jesus cares enough about you to heal you?
