Purpose

Jeremiah 29:8-12 Believe it or not, this is the Message from God-of-the-Angel-Armies, Israel’s God: “Don’t let all those so-called preachers and know-it-alls who are all over the place there take you in with their lies. Don’t pay any attention to the fantasies they keep coming up with to please you. They’re a bunch of liars preaching lies–and claiming I sent them! I never sent them, believe me.” God’s Decree! This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out–plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. “When you call on me when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.

Jeremiah 29:10 This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home.”

God speaks to us through His word:
He promises us that at the right time in our lives He will show up and take care of everything. He will take notice of what is going on in and through our lives and provide a solution to every problem.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:6

Jeremiah 29:11 I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out–plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

God has a plan for our lives and He knows what He is doing.
If you asked me today what I am searching for through recovery the answer is found in Step 11“In order to discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and to improve my relationship with Him, I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on it.”

Proverbs 19:21 We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but GOD’s purpose prevails.

Proverbs 15:22 Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed.

Ecclesiastes 3:17 “There’s a right time for everything, every deed–and there’s no getting around it.”

Ephesians 1:8-9 He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ.

Ephesians 3:12 When we trust in Him, we’re free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go.

God’s Plan Stands Up

Status

BibleGod’s plan for the world stands up, all his designs are made to last. Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed. Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. We know the meaning of those words because Jesus Christ rescued us from this evil world we’re in by offering himself as a sacrifice for our sins. God’s plan is that we all experience that rescue.

Psalms 33:11 ~ Proverbs 15:22 ~ Proverbs 16:1 ~ Galatians 1:4

I believe that people fail in the process of recovery because they don’t plan not too. When someone goes into a rehab, joins a recovery group, goes to Church it is a protected environment. We go, we listen, we learn but fail to plan what we are going to do at the end of the rehab time when we go home from the recovery group when Church is finished and the enemy understands that. Presenting temptations he knows we cannot ignore or overcome is his way of pulling us back into our old ways of thinking and acting.

God has a plan, designed to last. An important part of that plan is through us building up supports that will help us overcome temptation when it presents. His plans are different from our plans and the way for us to discover them and put them into practice is through a relationship with Him and with others in recovery. He sent His Son as a sin offering for our sins so we can experience the rescue that comes from learning and applying the principles of recovery to our lives

Beyond Failure

Status

1 Chronicles 12:18Peace to you, And peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.”

None of us are going to get it right all the time. One of my mentors regularly told me “You spell faith RISK!” And, you can’t take risks and always succeed. Failure is part of the process of success. How many people have you seen relapse and come back stronger?

Hebrews 10:36 says “You need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.” Too many people give up before the miracle happens. Recovery is a continual process of spiritual progress.

When we face problems in life and in recovery and we will. Jesus said  “In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”  John 16:33 When, not if we face problems we need to call upon Him in heartfelt prayer. Believing He will answer us, believing He will help us. Beyond our failures, we need put our faith in Him understanding He has overcome the world and can deal with any obstacle life throws at us.
