Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.
He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us—Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually, the news is going to get out. This and this only has been my appointed work: getting this news to those who have never heard of God, and explaining how it works by simple faith and plain truth. 1 Timothy 2:5-6
Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’
Proverbs 16:3 Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.
Does God go to work with you? Right now in my work life, it is pretty hectic. Circumstances beyond my control or my companies control have made it necessary for us to move from one work site to another in order to keep providing services to our client. Which in turn means working longer and working harder for everyone.
When this happens in my life I find myself having to rely on God more and ensuring the lines of communication with Him remain open 24/7 and that I take time throughout the day to pause, Listen to Him and pay attention to Him. The Bible says in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest.” The Message Bible, it says “Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”
Circumstances in our lives, not just our working lives but in every area of our lives don’t always go according to plan. That is why every day in every situation and circumstances we need to remember 2 Corinthians 1:9, which says “We felt like we’d been sent to death row, that it was all over for us. As it turned out, it was the best thing that could have happened. Instead of trusting in our own strength or wits to get out of it, we were forced to trust God totally–not a bad idea since he’s the God who raises the dead!”
1 Corinthians 15:58 With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.
Romans 12:17-18 Don’t hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody.
I read this verse and immediately into my head jumps the phrase “Don’t get hurt, get even.” That’s how I used to think. If you hurt me I would hurt you back, but worse. If you took something from me I would take away something from you, but more precious. It wasn’t a healthy way to live and it meant through recovery I had a lot of work to do on me.
The verse 18 says “ If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody..” In other words, don’t hold grudges and take action that is going to repair relationships.
I have heard a lot of people over the years say to me “I talked to God about it, that’s enough.” It’s not! None of us were designed to live alone with God. He designed us for relationship/ To not only get along with others but to help others become all that He created them to be.
- Who would you rather hold a grudge against than repair the relationship with?
Prayer: Lord help me today to recognize the people in my life I am holding resentments against and do whatever I can to repair our relationship.
When you feel like quitting in recovery remember God has promised to keep working in and through your life until you are healed and whole.
Guide me with your laws so that I will not be overcome by evil. Psalms 119:133
I love this verse in the Bible. I have one prayer I pray every day, sometimes several times a day and it is “God show me the next step.” The next step in my recovery, the next step in my relationships, the next step in my work etc.
In my life back in 1989 God and I reached an agreement. He leads I follow. From that day to this day that is how my life has worked. He opens doors and I walk through them. He creates opportunities and I grasp them with both hands. He shows me the next steps to take in my life and I follow them. Even though I can’t see the whole picture this much I am sure of: God didn’t bring me this far to drop me.
- How disciplined is your prayer life?
- When you pray do you give God time to answer?
Philippians 1:6-11 I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. I pray that your love will overflow more and more and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
Psalms 127:1 Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.
We have been in the building business since childhood, building our lives. Many of us with problems making a mess of things. Unless we construct with God’s help it’s no wonder we ended up with shabby results.
Unless the Lord builds …… our adulthood, our marriages, our family, our career our efforts are in vain. If your life is currently in a shambles now is a good time to recommence from scratch. The possibilities for life under construction are enormous, Going it alone is little to look forward to. Only God can build into our lives that which is eternal or of lasting quality.
